If Bordeaux has taught us one thing, it’s that there is something special in the way Cabernet and Merlot combine with Petit Verdot and Malbec into something greater than the sum of it’s parts. And there’s also something special about the way each of these varieties expresses itself on Red Mountain, holding onto their European sense of herbs, freshness and minerality, while bringing a power and density that’s completely Washington. Harmonious and balanced, filling in each other's holes and adding unique personality, these varieties Coalesce into a wine that’s pure Red Mountain.
The 2015 Coalesce is vibrantly purple/magenta in the glass. It has a classic bouquet of plums, vanilla bean, cedary spice, scorched earth and tobacco. Full-bodied and layered, the palate has firm structure and fresh, dark berries, with ample concentration. The long and building finish is savoury with dried herbs and mocha.
